Enrolment of foreign students

The University of Pisa, founded in 1343,  is amongst the top institutions in the main international rankings.   According to the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2020 the University of Pisa is ranked between 151st and 200th in the world and between 1st and 3rd in Italy. According to the QS World University Ranking 2021, the University of Pisa ranks 383rd worldwide. It is amongst the top 10 in Italy in 24 subjects out of the 48 surveyed by QS Rankings by subject.

The MsC in Cybersecurity is held in English and it requires a solid knowledge of this language (intermediate level or B2 level in the E.U. Framework for foreign languages). It also requires a solid background (see the admission rules), high motivation and hard working attitude.

Information for enrolment

The call for admission of non-EU students is published once per year at this page.

Important note: The University of Pisa also offers a 1 year program called “Master in Cybersecurity”. This is different than our “M.Sc. in Cybersecurity” (in Italian “Laurea Magistrale in Cybersecurity”), which is a two year program, and is held in English. Please, keep this in mind when you complete your application.

A video tutorial for enrolment is available here: The “6 steps for enrolment in a Master’s Degree taught in English at the University of Pisa”.

The portal of on-line services for students of the University of Pisa: Alice portal for students.

Finally, the Enrolment page reports some general information that may be useful for all students.

Contacts for support

The international office of the University provides support to international students of the first year for the issues with the administration. To this purpose, the international students may refer to the UNIBUDDY service, which gives the opportunity to chat (in different languages) with foreign students already enroled in our university. Furthermore, international students arriving in Pisa may take an appointment with the international offices through this calendar. The physical appointment will be in the welcome office, piazza Torricelli 4, opened up to October 31st Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 13.

Fees and financial support

University fees are to be paid on each academic year. They are determined by the Board of Directors on a yearly basis, and normally announced in the month of June for the following academic year (in the academic year 2022/23, they ranged from € 356 to € 2,400 per year, depending on the student’s country of origin). Please note that there are several bodies that can provide financial support to international students

Scholarships

Each academic year the University of Pisa generally offers a number of scholarships to the top international students, which are advertised in the yearly call for applications for non-EU students. Scholarships are awarded evaluating the following factors: CV, Interview, CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) and Country of origin of the applicant, giving priority to the less economically advantaged countries. Specific information about these scholarships can be found in the call for applications (see the Call for applications for non-EU citizens). More info about fees and grants can be found here.
